Who we are
Duckup Clothing Ltd is a family business based in the Southwest of England with strong roots in the British Countryside and a forward-looking approach to retailing.
British Farming is tough, and for many, it’s a way of life, not simply a lifestyle choice.
Looking at our farm (as with many others out there), the need to diversify and supplement our income was becoming all too apparent.
We all know how hard country life can be on our clothing and how difficult it can be to extend one’s wardrobe to suit every occasion – the jobs, the socials, the community events… Add to that (for my children at least) the need to be trendy & stylish too and buying a jumper has never been more complicated than it is right now!
While participating in a local shoot, I heard the words ‘duck up’ shouted, and an idea was born to create a quality clothing brand with the versatility to suit most occasions and which – even my children would be proud to wear.
We looked at what each of us at home had in our wardrobes, what we wore for various tasks and different occasions, and what we liked and were disappointed with – our market research did start at home. Still, rather quickly, my children spoke to their friends at school. I spoke to fellow farmers, and their workers, and my wife reached out to neighbours and the wider community, and what did we find?
So many people, young and old, said the same thing about the same brands – patterns were forming and with that data – the hard work began in earnest.
